How to let customers join your queue before they arrive
Last updated: September 9, 2026
This guide uses the current interface. Organization labels may differ. You need permission to manage queue settings; subscription changes require the appropriate billing access.
Confirm Queue Plus
Open the account menu, then Settings → Plan Features. Remote Join is included with Queue Plus. On Free, the locked Remote Join panel links to the existing upgrade flow. Free ticket QR tracking remains available.
Choose a queue in Remote Join settings
Go to Settings → Queue Settings and find Remote Join. Choose the applicable queue in that section. Check the location context before changing settings.
Enable joining and set the remote waiting limit
Check Allow customers to join remotely. Under Maximum remote queue size, choose Unlimited or Custom limit and enter a Remote waiting limit. This limits active remote waiting visitors, not the total queue.
Set the readable link and customer fields
Review Organization slug and Location slug; use an available name. Under Customer fields, set Name, Phone and Email to Hidden, Optional or Required.
Offer visit reasons and an optional note
Check Offer visit reasons, use Add reason, enter each Reason label and leave the options you want Enabled. Choose Require at least one reason if needed. Customers can select more than one reason. Enable Allow a private free-text note only when useful queue context is needed.
Save and share
Select Save Remote Join settings. Use Copy public join link to share it. Use Download SVG for the permanent printable QR. Print this downloaded QR rather than generating a QR from the readable link if you want it to survive renaming.
Open today's queue from Dashboard
Return to Dashboard, select the location and queue, and choose Open Queue if it is closed. If Close Queue is shown, it is already open. Keeping a queue active in configuration is different from opening today's queue for admissions.
There is no daily operating-hours editor in the normal interface. If Remote Join settings displays existing hours, those hours still apply. Early cutoff is available only with existing hours and is not required for this setup.
Check the customer journey
Open the public link in a signed-out browser. Choose the location or service if offered, enter test details and join while the queue is open. Confirm the visitor appears with a Remote badge on the relevant Dashboard without manual refresh. The customer can follow their own secure tracking page and edit permitted reasons or notes while lifecycle rules allow.
A successful test entry consumes a monthly visit. Finish or cancel it through the normal staff controls.
Stop admissions while finishing existing visitors
Choose Close Queue on Dashboard and confirm. New staff and remote admissions stop; existing visitors remain serviceable and tracking stays available. Reopen with Open Queue to continue the same session and numbering. Opening does not override other admission rules.
If a remote visitor does not arrive, use No-show: cancel visit and confirm. This records Cancelled. Use Skip when you intend to return the visitor later.
Optionally enable browser notifications and review sources
Use the staff notification opt-in in Remote Join settings on a supported browser. Check the browser's permission and device requirements. Review Remote, QR, Staff or Unknown sources in reporting; a legacy Unknown source is not assumed to be QR.
If joining is unavailable
Check today's queue is open, Remote Join is enabled, Queue Plus is active and both the remote waiting limit and monthly allowance permit a new entry. Existing hours or cutoff may also apply. A customer can correct a confirmed rejected submission. If the connection failed with an uncertain result, use Retry submission with the original details.
